Personal strengths with regard to Schools Leadership and Management
- Am able to provide quality leadership assistance in the areas of creating, with community and staff consultation, school visions, core values, strategy plans, the development of shared teaching beliefs (PMS Systems) and school self review. Examples of my approach to Strategy Planning are to be seen on the MoE Strategy Planning Website.
- As part of my Massey School of Education Contact work I have been involved in running course for School Board Of Trustees training to help them develop their capacity for self management.
- I have a real recognised strength in helping teachers develop innovative strategies (through the use of 'Action Research' projects) and in the development of teacher resources (I have developed as part of my independent Advisory work a wide range of teacher resources). These could easily be developed as collaborative research projects.
- Have successfully assisted a range of schools implement the New Zealand Guidelines and New Zealand Curriculum Framework both while assisting with Massey University School of Education, Teacher Support Contracts and as an Independent adviser. I have assisted schools implement the revised NAGs
- Have assisted schools to develop integrated approaches to programme planning, whole school development, curriculum implementation, assessment and self review.
- I am particularly interested in the support of school in their programmes of advice and guidance of provisionally registered teacher.
Personal strengths
- Recent Experience 86-92 as a School Principal and a recognised national expertise in the areas of school Leadership, School Development and Quality Learning
- Experience with assisting schools with School Development Action Research Projects ranging form whole school development to introducing Multiple Intelligences and thinking skills across the curriculum
- In 2000 my major task is to produce with the collaborative assistance of the Principals in the Norfolk Rural Administrative Cluster a resource that will be available for other schools to customise so that they can implement the NEGs and NAGs
- Am well known as an enthusiast who is skilled in communicating ideas
- Good interpersonal skills, self motivated and a good team contributor. I believe the challenge for CED is to work as an integrated team in 2001/2 so as to be seen by schools as their number on educational provider.
- Pride myself on my personal integrity
- Have a long career in teacher education and school development with curriculum experience in science, art, and with a particular interest in classroom management, integrated learning, the teaching of thinking and multiple intelligences.
- Have a wide range of personal interests. Currently establishing my own website.
- Am really interested in the concept of integrating elements of the curriculum in primary, intermediate and secondary classes and feel this is very important if students are to be helped to see connections across the curriculum and if teachers time and energy is to be used wisely.
- Am an avid educational reader, writer and sharer of ideas.
