Quality LearningBruce's WorldKia ora - welcome This site comes to you from New Plymouth, Taranaki, the western 'edge' of the North Island of New Zealand. It is said all true innovative ideas come from the edge and teaching is no exception. Over the years, we have had, and still have in Taranaki some wonderfully creative teachers and innovative principals who have helped their students achieve exciting work far beyond what you might expect. Take a look at the photo gallery to get some idea of what we mean by quality learning. We are equally sure there are pockets of innovative teachers all around NZ (and throughout the world) and, if so, you are the people we hope will enjoy our site. We appreciate that being a creative teacher is not always easy but if this site gives you the courage to stand up for your beliefs it will have been worthwhile. The best advice to give to any innovative person is to network with other like minds. You might like to join our free e-newsletter. Just subscribe online and we will include you. We are also planning to establish an interactive forum. Send us ideas and we will include them for others to respond to. To find out more about me see about Bruce (also see testimonials). I have had a life long interest in creative education - some would say more an obsession or a passion! In recent years I been self employed as an independent adviser, acting as a ‘catalyst’ assisting school change. There are also so many exiting new developments about how people learn, from teaching thinking to multiple intelligence’s to learn about. Many confirm teacher’s intuitive beliefs while others provide new insights to challenge us. We will be listing our favourite books and web sites that might be of use to you. I am also currently in the process of developing a range of action plan booklets to share ideas. There are also outlines of seminars and courses I can help you with and also a range of articles and handouts to help you develop school visions and quality learning strategies. If you want to develop your school or your classroom as an exciting learning environments based around quality learning beliefs and, in the process, have more fun teaching this is the site for you. Kia kaha - have courage

Bruce has revised and added to his previous resources to develop a new 240 page book'Quality Teaching and Learning'. In this new book Bruce shares the practical ideas gained from creative teachers he has worked over the years. Also included are ideas and quotes from educationalists that contribute to what Bruce calls 'A More Informed Vision for the 21stC'. Simply this is a book that values the 'artistry' of classroom teachers and the need for students to 'do fewer things well'. The ideas in the book align well with the intent of the New Zealand Curriculum. Read the latest!
