Quality LearningAbout BruceAn enthusiastic and humorous presenter, Bruce has had a long career as an adviser in school science and art, as a teacher, and as a principal of primary school of 350 students. In 1993 he was invited to become the Visiting Fellow of the then Palmerston North College of Education (now Massey University College of Education). Since 94 he has been an independent educational adviser In demand for his challenging views Bruce has presented widely throughout NZ and also internationally. He has presented workshops at two NZ Principal Federation Conferences, several regional principal’s conferences, most teachers centres an for a range of teacher groups. Internationally he has been invited to give keynote addresses and workshops at the Sth East Asian Principal’s Conference held in Indonesia, and to the Korean International Teachers Seoul Conference, both held in 99. As well he has presented a series of Quality Learning workshops at the Japanese International Teachers Conference 98. He has been invited to present workshops at the Sth East Asian Teachers Conference to be held in Bangkok in 2001.
Bruce has worked presented well over a hundreds Teacher Only Days and Seminars at almost every Teacher’s centre in NZ. Increasingly he is in demand for continuos whole school development involving School Review and Principal Appraisal. Bruce’s first love has always been in assisting classroom teachers create exciting learning environment for their students. Bruce believes that creative teachers hold the key to lasting educational change. In his Quality Learning Workshops he shares the ideas of the creative teachers he has worked with over the years. From these ideas he has developed a Teaching Framework that creates a more Informed Vision of teaching and learning for the 321stC. This framework combines the best of innovative practices with traditional values and also includes new insight about how students learn. At Bruce’s workshops and Teacher Only Days Bruce shares these ideas through practical interactive activities. Bruce believes that if teachers acquire such ‘focussed teaching’ strategies their students can in turn achieve far more that is often currently expected.
